Emmett

Emmett

Less than 7000 people live in Emmett, but it’s a fully self-sufficient, city, tucked away in a scenic Valley less than 30 minutes from Eagle, Meridian or Nampa. With its own hospital, Schools and grocery store the city is operated by the people for the people. Many of the locals I have interviewed would live nowhere else. At the grocery store they call each other by first name and no their story.

Black Canyon Reservoir is minutes from down town and offers fishing water sports and camping. The public horse arena is cared for by the County and used for practice and competition.

The Payette River runs through town attracting fishermen and birdwatchers alike. This is one of those places where your likely to see children selling lemonade from homemade stands in the front yard, and people come out to the high school football games in support of their team.

The town swells during the Cherry Festival when over 50,000 visitors come in from all over Idaho and surrounding states to experience this city and its refreshing culture. The event offers locally grown fruits and vegetables along with specialty homemade cheese, soap and so much more.

Even with all of this natural beauty, that surrounds Emmett, what makes it so remarkable is the people. If you spend a day enjoying the river, eating at the local restaurants, and walking around down town you will see what I mean.
